Competition Format
Primary & Secondary

Entries:

Each Sports Division may enter one team of 5 competitors plus 10 individuals in each event.

 

Athletes with a Disability:

Separate events are held for ‘Athletes with a Disability’.  Both boys and girls compete over the 3,000 metre course.  The girls event is held concurrently with the 16 Years event.  The Boys event is held concurrently with the 14 Years event.

Each school may enter up to five boys and five girls in the events for athletes with a disability. 

 

Ages:

Ages are taken as at the December 31st in the year of competition.

 

Tags:

Students must wear the tags as issued from the recording area on the day as soon as schools arrive at the venue.

 

If a student is no longer competing then his/her tag is to be left at the recording table.

 

Team Changes:

All changes must be finalized 3 days prior to the event. No changes will be accepted on the day.

 

Officials:

Officials will be required from competing schools on a pro rata basis

 

Dress:

Competitors will not be permitted to compete unless they are wearing their registered school athletics tops and shorts.

Shorts other than athletic shorts and football shorts will not be accepted dress.  Board shorts (or similar) will not be accepted dress.

 

Shirts with designs, logos or advertising are not acceptable.

 

Footwear:

All competitors must wear shoes.  Spikes may be worn, provided short spikes are used.

 

Pacing:

Pacing is not permitted.  Any competitor using a pacer is eligible for immediate disqualification.

 

Scoring:

For teams, the best four place-getters will count towards the team score; the team with the lowest total being the winner.

If two teams are equal on points then the team whose 4th runner was first across the line will be declared the winner.

 

Awards:

Medals will be presented to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place-getters in each event.  Pennants will be presented to the winning team at each level.  Medals will be presented to the members of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd teams.  Presentations will be made approximately half an hour after the conclusion of the final event.

 

First Aid:

Schools are required to provide their own first aid; including instant ice packs.

 

Staff:

All students must be under staff supervision at all times.

 

Briefing:

Course briefing will be on the start line 5 minutes before the start of each event.

 

Walking:

Competitors may walk the course prior to the start of the first event, however, the course must be clear after 10:00 am.

 

Valuables:

Valuables are to be left with teachers or parents.  Do not leave valuables in bags.  Do not leave any property unattended during the day.

 

Team Sheets:

Competing schools must send a properly completed team sheet to the Convener on the day or their students will be ineligible to compete
