Format:

Round Robin

Length of matches:

Senior:                                  2 x 30 minute halves - 5 minutes half time

Inter, Year 7 & Year 8:        2 x 25 minute halves - 5 minutes half time

In high temperatures (in excess of 25°C), matches may be shortened by mutual agreement between the two coaches involved.

 

Umpires:

Will be provided.

Match Format:

Hockey is conducted under the rules of the Federation of International Hockey Board for boys and girls unless otherwise stated.  The Tomahawk stroke is not permitted to be used at any level.

'Green' warning cards and 'yellow' send off cards are to be used by the umpires.  A 'red' send off card is equivalent to the 'Order Off' as outlined in 'General Conditions of Competition'.

 

Teams may nominate a maximum of 16 players in its squad for the finals.  In any match all interchange players may be used.

 

Penalty corners will be played out when 'time' is called.

 

In the event of a tied match in a knock out competition, 5 penalty strokes will be taken by five nominated players in a nominated order from each of the tied teams.  The team to attack first will be decided by the toss of a coin.  Goalkeepers will defend the penalty strokes.

 

If still tied, a series of 'sudden death' penalty strokes will be taken alternately by the same nominated players until a decision is reached after an even number of strokes.  The team defending first for the first penalty strokes shall attack first for the 'sudden death' strokes.

 

Lateness Penalty:

If a team is late for the start of their match and, in the convener’s opinion, their lateness makes the draw impracticable, the team will be penalised 1 goal at for each completed 10 minutes of lateness.

Dress:

Uniform tops, shorts and socks must be worn.   Teams are asked to provide contrasting bibs if available.

Players must wear footwear suitable for a synthetic surface.

The wearing of mouth guards is highly desirable and strongly recommended

Players will not be permitted to play if they are not wearing shin guards.

Goalkeepers must wear as part of their protective equipment a helmet and mask plus kickers during the game.

Should a goalkeeper be incapacitated, suspended or substituted pursuant to the current Rules of Hockey, the nominated player who assumes the privileges of a goalkeeper must wear a protective helmet and mask plus kickers. The said nominated player shall be permitted to put on, without delay, the said protective helmet and mask.

 

Equipment to Bring:

All own equipment including pads and kickers, one new pink or orange ball.
