Competition Format
Primary

Secondary

Match Format:

Yr 7, Yr 8 - 80 min or 7 equal innings.                      Int, Snr - 90 min or 7 equal innings

5 minute rule applies - if at the completion of even innings (from the call of side out), there remains more than 5 minutes of time before the scheduled completion of the game, a further innings shall be played, however the innings must be completed within 15 minutes of the scheduled completion time or scores will revert to the previous equal innings

Umpires:

Will be provided.

Matches will be played under the International Rules of Baseball, unless otherwise stated.

Pitchers may not pitch more than the following pitch counts for the day:-

Year 7 - 90          Year 8 - 100                                           Inter - 110                          Senior - 120

After a pitcher has pitched the maximum number of pitches allowable he must be removed from play and take no further part in the day's competition.

A player cannot be used as both the pitcher and the catcher in the same game.

Year 7 pitchers may not pitch curve balls.

In Year 7 and Year 8 games a dropped third strike is 'out' and the ball is 'live' if there is a player on first base.

In all sections the 'Nine Batter' rule applies.  [ i.e. if during an innings all nine players have a turn at bat, then if the ninth batter makes it to first base all players on bases make runs and the side is away.

The ’15 run rule’ will apply after three completed innings and the ’10 run rule’ will apply after five completed innings.

The catcher may use a ‘designated runner’.

Players may steal bases at any time while the ball is 'live'.

The winning team will be decided on matches won.  If two teams are equal on matches won then the team that won the head-to-head encounter between the two tied teams will be declared the winner.  If the head-to-head encounter was a draw, then percentage using the following formula will be used:-               Total Runs Scored                            X                                         Total Runs Scored + Total Runs Scored Against           100

Lateness Penalty:

If a team is late for the start of their match and, in the convener’s opinion, their lateness makes the draw impracticable, the team will be penalised 1 run per each completed 10 minutes of lateness.

Dress:

All players must be attired in matching tops, pants and socks. Approved helmets must be worn when batting and when running the diamond.

Catchers must wear a face mask with a throat protector, a helmet and a chest protector.
