Format:

Round Robin

Match Format:

Matches will consist of 6 sets (4 singles and 2 doubles).  A set is equal to the best of 5 x 11 point advantage games.

Teams are to consist of 4 - 6 players, with players competing in only one singles match and one doubles match.

The four singles players are to be ranked in order of ability from 1 to 4.  Before play commences each team must hand the convener a list of all players, including substitutes, ranked in order of ability.  The seeded order is to be the same for all matches on the day.

If a replacement is required, then the replacement is ranked at number 4 and all other players move up a rank.

Any pairing may be used for the doubles to comprise a First Pair and a Second Pair.  A replacement, if required, is to take the place of the player being replaced.

Teams must nominate their doubles pairings before the start of play in each round.  Pairings may be changed following the singles by mutual agreement by the two coaches involved.

Players will toss for the choice of service or end before all matches.    In doubles, the receiving pair alters their order of receiving when the changeover is made.

Rubbers will be decided on games won.  If games won are equal then points will be compared to determine a winner.

The Champion team will be decided on matches won.  If two teams are tied on matches won, then the team that won the head-to-head encounter between the two tied teams will be declared the champions.  If the head-to-head match was a draw or more than two teams are tied on matches won, then total rubbers will be compared.  If total rubbers won are equal then total games will be compared.  If still equal, then total points.  If still equal, then percentages will be compared.

Lateness Penalty:

If a team is more than twenty minutes late for their first match and, in the convener’s opinion, this makes the draw impracticable, the team will forfeit their number 3 and 4 singles games 0:11 0:11 0:11.

Dress:

Competitors must be attired in their school sports uniform or in clothing appropriate for table tennis (shorts or track pants, t-shirt or polo shirt, runners).

Jeans or board shorts (surf shorts) are not acceptable dress.  Shirts with large manufacturer’s logos or advertising are not acceptable.

Non-mark sports shoes must be worn.  Jewellery, watches or reflective items are not allowed.

Equipment To Bring:

Own bats and eight new ATTA approved 40mm balls.

Each school must provide its own 1st aid kit; including ice packs.
