Let there be light

Installation of lights at St Albans Reserve is under way! Two years ago Enfield Harriers received a grant from SASI for the purchase of one light pole and three lights to light up our club grounds. This purchase was part of the lighting design for the oval, which was to consist of 6 light poles - 3 down each straight. Unfortunately after receiving multiple installation quotes, the installation costs were prohibitive for Enfield Harriers and we could not install the lights we had. To over come this barrier, the committee worked with the Port Adelaide Enfield Council to work out a way forward to light the club grounds. It was decided that the purchase of additional lights and installation would be tackled in the 2008/2009 budget. Skip forward a couple of years and by mid 2008 a design approval notice was sent out to residents of Clearview informing them of the light installation. Late October Kym met with a lighting contractor and was informed that the lights would be installed in November; which brings us to today. 6 light poles are being installed and they will provide sufficient lighting to light the oval to conduct night training or competitions. It will make winter training easier and safer for athletes. All going well and the lights will be able to be opened and tested at the Enfield Harriers Xmas BBQ. This is a significant achievement for Enfield Harriers and further strengthens our position as being the best athletic club in the state, with the best facilities.
