Our athletes on the National Stage

Its the pointy end of the season and some of our athletes are preparing for and competing at national competitions.

Ryan Grieger, Tomas Semmler and Jess Mills were selected to represent South Australia at the Junior Nationals. Ryan performed exceptionally well achieving a bronze medal in the steeplechase. Jess achieved a 4th in U14 Girls Hammer and stepped up to the U15 Hammer and threw far enough for 9th. At 12 years old the future is bright for Jess. Despite being disqualified in both Hurdles event Tomas ran well helping SA to a bronze medal in the 4 x 200m.

Not to be out done our seniors are busy preparing themselves for up coming Athletics Australia Tour events and Senior Nationals. Chasing a Commonwealth B qualifier Lauren Foote will be competing in the Heptathlon at the Nationals before heading to Europe. Sprinter Kelly Heinze will represent SA at the Brisbane Track Classic in the states 4 x 100m team and then its off to the Nationals to compete in 100m. Wayne Willis was selected to compete at the IAAF World Challenge event in Mens shot put and will also be competing at the National Championships in Melbourne. New recruit Paul Raison will be chasing an Comonwealth games qualifying performance in the Ambulant Discus. We wish all our athletes the best especially Lauren on her quest to represent Australia at the Commonwealth Games.
