Congratulations to Brooke Billett who was inducted into the ASA Hall of Fame (along with Tatiana Grigorieva and Dmitri Markov) on June 4, 2007.
From the Advertiser:
Kruger-Billett announced her retirement this year, her career cruelly cut short by a shoulder injury.
The problem has plagued Brooke-Krueger, 26, since her gold medal triumph at last year's Melbourne Commonwealth Games.
Just months earlier she threw a personal best 70.72m, ranking her second on the Australian all-time list, to win the national crown. "It was 13 years hard work and to retire was no easy decision," Brooke-Krueger said.
"People tell me how much more I could have achieved but my body was not going to hold up.
"It took me nearly a year to make the decision. It has been like a rollercoaster since the Melbourne Games and retirement had been in the back on my mind.
"I'm a just normal Joe Blow. I go out here (Santos Stadium) to athlete meets on a Saturday like any other athlete. That is the way I am.
"I'll still go out and watch (husband) Darren. He hopes to make the next Commonwealth Games team. I'll just stand back and be the supportive wife."
