Australian Junior Champs

Leila Johnson was unstoppable in the 2km Steeplechase after crashing on the first water jump, and grazing her knee on another steeple in the last lap, still ran strong to beat the whole field by 17s. and take out gold in the u/18's. Women's 1500M 4 second PB to run 4mins33secs to finish 4th and just miss out on medal by only 4secs (5 metres). This time is only 1 second of our club record for the 1500M, set by Elizabeth Allen decades ago.

Young Caitlin Abbott competed in her first Junior Nationals recording a which shows her tough country upbringing recording a massive 40 second PB for 10'43 in the U/17's Women's 3000m. A very  promising start for a determined distance runner.

Paige Hooper has recovered well from injury, and coped with the pressures of moving into a full-time job to finish a comfortable 2nd in the U/20 10000m Race Walk in what was her final Junior Nationals before she moves up to tougher competition in Seniors. Paige is a regular state representative at National competition and I'm sure she will continue on with this when she moves into the Open age group.

Eilis Noone recovered extremely well from a sprained ankle done 3 weeks ago whilst training for hurdles to run 13.98secs for 100M in the Women's U/16's, missing out on qualifying for the final by an extremely small 0.6secs. Eilis then went onto record a huge PB by 2secs to run 31.10secs in the 200M Hurdles, again unfortunately finishing just 0.6secs outside of qualifying, impeded by a stronger headwind in her heat. Eilis also gained experience with good runs in the 4 x 100M and 4 x 200M relays where her teams finished 4th & 6th respectively.

Tom McNamara who has also previously competed in national competitions finished with a very good height of 3.65M in the Men's U/17 Pole Vault competition.

Enfield Rookie Ashden Pratt recorded a 1 second PB & finishing 6th in a close fought Men's U/14 100M where less than a second separated the first 6 competitors. Ashden also jumped another 40cms PB in the Triple Jump to just miss out on a medal and finish 4th. Aswell as doing the Javelin Throw finishing 5th with  one of this best throws of the season.
