2007 Australian Youth Olympic Festival



The 2007 Australian Youth Olympic Festival was held in Sydney January 17 - 21. The competition was open to athletes who were born in 1990 or 1991 (exclusively). The festival provided an excellent opportunity for young Australian athletes to compete in a high quality international competition.

30 countries were invited to participate in the festival, including: Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, Great Britain, Hong Kong, Japan, Malaysia, New Caledonia, New Zealand, Oceania (combined team), Philippines, South Africa, Thailand, Chinese Taipei and the USA.

Sports included:
Athletics Badminton Canoe / Kayak (flat water & Slalom)
Diving Figure Skating Cycling (track & road)
Football Hockey Gymnastics artistic, rhythmic Trampoline Rowing Short Track (speed skating)
Swimming Table Tennis Shooting (Clay Target)
Taekwondo Sailing

Congratulations to Sara Jaric and Mitch Fox - more of Enfield Harriers finest - who competed in the athletics. Sara threw 43.59 in the javelin to finish 4th and Mitch jumped 4.00m in the pole vault to place 3rd and win the bronze.
