2010 winter running

There are 14 clubs in ASA and 1 country club. Seven clubs have fielded runners in the women’s competition and six clubs have fielded runners in the men. The fields have been 53, 34, 36 with the road champs at a record low. Enfield had their lowest representation since 1966 because of having he event on a holiday weekend and combining it with a fun run where association athletes had to pay two entry fees not one. The cost plus family and other sporting commitments affected our team effort.

All is not lost however as there are five more premiership events to go including the City to Bay.

Congratulations to Shae Grieger (U16), Leila Johnson (U18) who placed 1st in the Short Course Cross Country Champs held on 30th April. Special mention to Alycia Rabig (Open), Ryan Grieger (U16) and Adam Zur Eich (Over 35) who placed in top three in their events.

The premiership tables after 3 events are mixed with our Under 16 Girls and Boys sitting 2nd to Flinders and our under 20 Girls sitting on 3rd. Good effort from the Open Women’s to be placed in 1st, 4 points clear of the Hills and our Over 35 Men’s team one point behind Flinders in 2nd.

For those who are available, we are the Duty Club for the ASA Long Course Cross Country Champs on Saturday 3rd July. We need helpers to set up and mark out the course from 10.30am onwards. Helpers are also needed for Course Marshalls and afternoon tea, and then to help clean up at the end of the day at 4.00pm.

Remember that volunteering for the City to Bay, whether this be in the office or on the day fundraises for our club, so if you can, lend a hand and raise some money for your club. If you need more information on any item above, please call John on 8344 2513.
