May Bottle Drive

This Sunday we had a nice day to collect bottles, and we managed to collect a new record $1,288 worth, which is a fantastic result considering only 2 helpers, who worked hard all day from 8am – 3:30pm to help collect the bottles, with a number of trips to the Bottle depot with Adam’s & Andy’s RAV4s and some help from Kath Johnson’s Subaru.

Thank you very much to the people that helped out with this bottle drive. Notably Adam Zur Eich and John Pearce – who had a huge number of bags at his house mostly collected from his fantastic “Dawn Patrol efforts”. Adam & John worked tirelessly all day with some help from Andrew McKay & Kath Johnson who made an effort to help out collect some bottles. It would still be nice to see some new faces there next time. Other people that made contributions of bottles were Kylie Montgomery, the Johnsons, the Hooper, the Burgess, the Noone & White families, Paula & Linda Whitelaw.

A bottle drive is one way that an athlete who receives a subsidy can help their club. It is always great to have more helpers at the Bottle Drive rather than just the usual ones that turn up each time. Your help is required to collect bottles donated by our local community for collection.

We definitely need more helpers so we can collect bottles from the residents of more streets, instead of just a few streets. I’m sure there are more members out there that can help besides the usual few people that attend as the club has almost 60 members.

If by chance you can not make it on the day, another idea is to raise some funds is collect up all your  bottles & then go and cash them in at a bottle depot or organise to drop off the bottles. Then you can pass  he money you raised onto a committee member. If just some of our members collected just $10 worth of recyclables we could raise another couple hundred dollars!!!!!!!!!

Our next Bottle Drive will be in 2 – 3 months, so it would be good to have some more new faces to help collect bottles like we did this day, to help with our busy fundraising effort.
