Junior Country Week

 

Under 17 girls played in Essendon

  • 5 under 15 girls in the team

  • Played 3 games on Saturday – won 1 lost 2. Won against Kerang

  • Went into finals and came 3rd

    • Played Glenelg 1st round lost 3 love

    • Then played Kerang and lost 1 love, very even match, fought well. Scoring only in the last 5 mins of the game

Under 15 boys mixed team

  • Included 5 under 13 players

  • On Saturday won 2 of their 3 games

    • On 1st game won to Geelong 4 –love

    • Then won 2-1 to Warrnambool

    • Lost 3-4 to Goulbourn Valley

  • Sunday won 1st game 6 love to HCV

  • Won 1st final 5 love against Gippsland

  • Then lost 2nd final 3 love against Albury Wodonga

  • Finished 3rd overall

Everyone played really well, no injuries.

Both teams had trainee coaches, which was good for the association’s development.

A very successful Junior Country Championships (JCC) was run on the weekend, with over 60 teams competing across 10 divisions. A full wrap will be on the HV website tomorrow.

One element of the Championships is the selection of squads for the 2013 Lightning, Eagles and Cougars JSC teams (U13 / U15 / U17).

Over the course of the weekend, independent HV selectors identified talented players in each game with this information combined with coach feedback and competition results to put together the squads.

All players are asked to accept or reject their place by 5pm, Friday 31 May so that extra places in the squad can be made available (if available). All players accepting their place will be expected to attend training this coming Sunday 2 June with full details of times and locations to be available on the HV website COB tomorrow. Final team lists must be submitted by Zones following this training session.

Unselected players are asked to be patient at this point, as a second round of offers may be circulated later in the week.
