2014 - Round 4 Preview

Round 4

Saturday 3 May 2014

Split Round

Kaniva Recreation Reserve

and

Dimboola Health and Fitness Centre (hosted by Horsham Hockey Club)

PREVIEW

First split round for season

Wimmera Hockey Association will have its first split round for the season this weekend with matches to be played at Kaniva and Dimboola on Saturday.  Horsham Hockey Club will host its home games at the Dimboola Health and Fitness Centre this year, hosting five matches on the turf this weekend.  Kaniva club will host four matches plus the early session of minkey at 9.30am.

Juniors

Yanac Warriors with strength all over the field should be too strong for Dimboola Kookaburras at Kaniva, although Kookaburras have been showing determination in defence.

Warrack Revengers will play Kaniva Raiders who will have the home game advantage.  Revengers have just come off a win and although they are coming up against one of the stronger teams they will make Raiders work for their points.

Nhill Leopards and Horsham Bombers will enjoy a competitive game on the turf at Dimboola.

Dimboola Kangaroos have the bye.

Women

Top meets bottom when Yanac Women play Kaniva Women at Kaniva on Saturday.  Yanac will be strong opposition just coming off an important win but Kaniva will work hard all game backed by strong defence.

Horsham Highlanders and Nhill Thunderbirds are each coming off convincing wins last round and will try to keep their momentum going.  Nhill had a very effective forward line last week scoring an impressive eight goals but will need to watch Highlanders’ passing around which will be even more effective on the turf at Dimboola.  This will be a good test for both teams.

Dimboola Women will be looking to make amends for last week’s close loss and should be too strong for Warrack Women, although Warrack will be spurred on by scoring some goals against a tough side in Highlanders last week.

Open

Yanac Tigers are yet to have a goal scored against them this season and it will be a good test for Kaniva Cobras on their home ground to see if they can be the first.  Tigers scored through six different scorers last week and are looking strong across the board.  Cobras will be hoping a return of a couple of players will boost their chances.

The Horsham Hurricanes vs Nhill Rangers match will be hard fought with both lower order teams looking to get some points on the board.  Each can boast good defence but of course it comes down to the team who can score.  With each team yet to score a goal this season the Dimboola turf may just speed things up for them.

In the late game on the turf Dimboola Men will have to work hard against a fierce attack from Warrack Hoops who just came off a seven-goal win.
