Zone Rookie Singles – sectional play at Crescent Head and Macksville
The sectional play for the Rookie competitions have been completed at Crescent Head and
Macksville and the four players proceeding to the Zone final at Kempsey Heights on
Saturday 27 September are:
- Phillip Barnett (South West Rocks)
- Gary Bishop (Scotts Head)
- Jarrod Wilson (Kempsey Heights)
- George Durzo (West Coffs)

Champion of Club Champions – Pairs - rescheduled
The Match Committee has decided not to schedule the semi-finals and final on Sunday 7th September, it being Father’s Day.
They have been scheduled for Saturday 20th September.

When you check out the draw, remember, one match (in Round 1) has not been completed and is to be played in the morning of the 6th September and the Quarter Finals are then all to be played on the afternoon of the 6th September - weather gods permitting.

Congratulations to Westport Grade 6's
P Butler, W Hubbuck, M Banes, M Pearson, C Burke, L Buttler, D Griffiths, N Moore, D Hanskaer, J White, P Schleibs & P Budnick
who made the State Pennant Grade 6 Playoff Final, after 3 undefeated rounds and a strong semi final win against St John's Park (no easy win there), but went down gallantly to Lawson 71 to 38.
The boys did the Lower North Coast Clubs proud... Congratulations and commiserations.

Change to the District Calendar
Kempsey Heights BC has made application to the Match Committee to move their Akubra Triples Tournament from August 18th & 19th to October 25th & 26th due to their greens being under repair for approximately 3 to 4 weeks, starting 11th August. The application was approved - Akubra Triples Tournament is now on October 25th to 26th

District Triples
It is now down to the pointy end of the District Triples Competition after two days of play at Kempsey RSL this weekend. Westport (D Smith, W Buckley & C Young) versus the stylish combination of Port City's Paul Sheridan, Greg Laird and Geoff Ball - all to be played out at Kempsey RSL at 9am on Saturday, the 26th July. Note the closing date for nominations in BOTH events is 5:00pm Friday 8th August, 2014 and late entries will not be accepted. Kevin Williams, our District Bowls Organiser, urges all club secretaries/bowls organizers to forward nominations ASAP and not wait until the last minute, as was often the case with District Championship entries.

2014 Rookie Competition
Entries for the 2014 Rookies Competitions for players who joined affiliated Clubs (for the first time) after 01/04/2012 are now open. (BTW entries close Friday 25th July 2014)
The LNC sections will be run at Crescent Head and the Zone 14 play-offs at Kempsey Heights on the dates indicated. However, interested "Rookies" need to enter via the RNSWBA. Entry forms go through the Royal NOT the LNC Bowls Organiser.

District Championships - The 2014 Fours Results
The "Final" Finals of the District Fours was played today (31st May 2014).
Congratulations go to Kempsey Heights with a 24 - 14 win over South West Rocks.

The End of an Era
A Special General Meeting happened at Port Panthers on Friday, 16th May. A unanimous vote, by our fourteen District Clubs, passed the Zone Alone proposal. The long and the short of it all is administration will now be focussed at Zone level and everything else (Pennants, Championships etc) will carry on as per normal. After the meeting, clubs battled it out over a game of bowls and a fine lunch, thank you Panthers Sports Club, was had by all. After the lunch clubs had an opportunity to have their say on a range of matters and some sage words were given those who had a lot of "runs on the board". A great day. Thank you Captain Ken.

Michael Howard supplied me with the SWRocks Men's Bowling Club's new web address. Well done Michael - the site is impressive. In his email he suggested other clubs in the Zone might like to add links from their own web sites to other Zone clubs to share across club and event(s) information... a great idea.
Zone Alone
Ken Errington, our District President writes...
“The District met on 30th March, at Westport and resolved to go Zone Alone. What that means is that the Districts will be dissolved and the Zone will be the only Administrative body controlling our game. All this will still take a while, but on the 30th June, 2014 the Districts will be dissolved, a caretaker (current Zone Officials) will keep things going until the Zone elections on the 17th August, 2014.
As law denotes and legal advice is sought re wording, (there) will be … another Special General Meeting in both Districts for the adoption of resolutions to fast track action in the winding up details, dates, finances, equipment etc. This is to be set for Sunday, 18th May, 2014, 10am, venue TBA. If all resolutions are passed (it appears that every Club agrees), then a SGM of the Zone Management Committee will be held on Sunday, 15th June, 2014 to rubberstamp all the resolutions to make it all happen.”

The District would love to post Club Championship results to this website. Our first club to go public was Crescent Head, well done boys - now Kempsey Heights have joined in as well - so please send us your results as they are finalized and we will let the rest of the District know.
