Competition Format
Primary

Competition Format:

Each Division may send up to 10 competitors. Division Coordinators are responsible for entries which are due to reach the convener by the required date.

Secondary

Competition Format:

Each Division may send up to 15 competitors, two teams of five and five individuals for each age group or one team of five and ten individuals. Division Coordinators are responsible for entries which are due to reach the convener by the required date.

Athletes with a Disability may be entered directly to the Region Coordinator.

Students may compete in only one age group for which they are eligible and must compete in the age group they competed in at Division.

School team scores are calculated by counting the best four performances from each school. Draws between school teams will be separated by the better placed fourth runner.

Competitors should be suitably attired in their school colours.

Staff members may not run with the competitors.

Staff members are reminded that their students are still under their supervision at the venue. Please look after them and make sure that all rubbish is taken away with you.

Competitors must wear tags on their left wrist.  These will be distributed to schools on the day, prior to the event.

Schools may not form teams on the day from competitors who have qualified as individuals.

A school that has a team qualified for the EMR Championships may, on the day of the event, replace a member of this team with an existing runner who has been entered as an ‘individual’ runner or a new runner from within the school, provided that this runner has not already competed in a different age group at Division or Region level in that year. The convener must be notified of any changes to teams on the day of the event prior to the first event.

The first-placed school team, plus the next seven competitors (maximum) in each age group will be the Region representatives at the State Cross-Country.

Schools participating must be prepared to provide officials as required

Spikes may be worn but must be no longer than 12 mm.

IAAF rules only allow an athlete to carry a watch and/or a Ventolin inhaler. No personal music players allowed.

Results will be posted as soon as all entries are collated at the conclusion of each event, together with the time of posting.  There will be a 10 minute opportunity for protests or corrections to the results to be lodged with the convener. After 10 minutes, if there are no protests or corrections, presentations will be made to the individual and team place-getters.

Age Groups:

All ages are calculated as of 31 December in the year of competition.

Protest:

The convener is in sole charge of the day and his/her decision is final, subject to the Region’s protest procedures
