Secondary

Format:

Draws, pools etc. will be communicated to schools soon after entries close.

Arrival Time:

9.15am

Entry:

Direct to Region competition.   Entries are to be sent to the Region Coordinator. Students must be Under 21 in the year of competition.

All teams must have some experience of playing Lawn Bowls.

Match Format:

There will be two levels of competition:

A Level: Competing to represent the Region and consists of one entry from each school (strongest team). The draw (to achieve multiples of 4 teams if there are more than 4 schools competing) will be completed with additional teams from schools with a better record in recent years if necessary to complete the pools.

B Level: Consisting of all other entries but NOT competing to represent the Region.  Schools are restricted to a maximum of three team entries.  (This would mean that teams of similar ability play each other).

Play will be in 2 Bowl Triples, and teams may consist of boys only, girls only or mixed.

In Round Robin matches play will continue for 12 ends or 75 minutes, whichever comes first. If time elapses, the end in progress must be completed.

In Semi Finals and Finals play will continue for 10 ends with no time limit.

‘Dead’ ends are replayed unless ‘Time’ has been called.

Match Winner:

Matches in the round-robin section will be decided by ‘shots up’.

If a round robin match is tied, a draw will stand.

Round Robin Winner:

If, at the end of a round robin, two teams are equal on matches won, then the winner of their face to face match will be declared the winner.  If their face to face match was a draw, then total 'shots-up' will be used to determine the winner. If still tied, percentage for/against will be calculated using scores from all round-robin matches. If still tied, 1 extra end will be played to determine the winner.

If more than two teams are equal, then the winner will be determined by total 'shots-up' against the other tied teams.  If equal, then percentage for/against against the other tied teams.

Final Winners:

If a semi-final or the final is tied, one additional end will be played to determine a winner.

Dress:

All players must wear smooth flat-soled shoes without heels

Players must wear correct bowls attire or their school sports uniform

Players not correctly dressed will not be permitted to compete

Equipment to Bring:

Competing teams must supply regulation bowls – For finals, all bowls must have the same coloured rings or no rings.
