KENNETH JONASSEN (Denmark)

The arrival of Dane Kenneth Jonassen firms up the
already formidable men’s singles cast in the 2007
Bingo Bonanza Philippine Open Badminton Championships
slated July 18-22 at the Philsports Arena in Pasig
City, Metro Manila.

At No. 8, Jonassen is the fifth player competing in
the centerpiece event of the $120,000 championship,
thus making it one of the toughest with the top five
of the world’s top 10 players in the fold.

The Herning, Denmark native is the holder of the
fastest smash in singles competition at 298 km/h, thus
making him one of the players to watch in the event.
Jonassen, who reached the high of No. 2 in the world
ranking in April 2005, played in the 2004 Athens
Olympics but bowed to Chinese ace Chen Hong in a round
of 32 clash.

Losing finalist in the Singapore Open last year to
compatriot Peter Gade, Jonassen had a string of
quarterfinal finishes heading into the RP Open,
reaching the Last 8 in the All-England Super Series,
Swiss Open and Singapore Super Series before settling
for another Last 16 stint in the Indonesia Super
Series last May.
