SONY DWI KUNCORO (Indonesia)

Born on July 7, 1984 in Surabaya, Jawa Timur, Kuncoro
was a bronze medallist in the 2004 Athens Olympics,
beating Thai Boonsak Ponsana in straight sets.

He reached a high world ranking of No. 3 in 2003 after
winning the Asian Championships crown for the second
straight year. But after capturing his third Asian
title in 2005, Kuncoro never figured in a title hunt
and has dropped to No. 17 last March before moving
four rungs up at No. 14 heading into the $120,000
Bingo Bonanza Philippine Open slated July 18-22 at the
Philsports Arena in Pasig City, Metro Manila.

He gained the last 16 stages in the Singapore Super
Series and made four quarterfinal appearances in the
Indonesia Super Series, the Swiss Open, the
All-England and the Korean Open.
