YIP PUI YIN (Hong Kong)

Born on Aug. 6, 1987 in Hong Kong, Yip played at the
2005 World Badminton Championships in Anaheim trounced
Laura Molina of Spain and Kanako Yonekura of Japan to
and make it to the third round before succumbing to
reigning world champion and world No. 1 Zhang Ning of
China.

She won the silver medal in women’s singles in the
2006 Asian Games in Doha, falling short of her title
bid against Hong Kong’s Wang Chen.

The 13th-ranked Yip reached the semifinals of the New
Zealand Open early this year and made it to the last
16 in the Indonesia and Singapore Super Series before
advancing to the quarterfinals in the Asian
Continental Championships last April.
