Jye Weller 13/03/15

Jye Weller   -   MDHA Development Officer

It is clear from the outset that Jye has a passion for a career in the Sport and Recreation Industry.  Jye set his pathway out with key milestones long before completing his formal schooling. To this end he has tailored his adult education and training around his objectives within the Sport and Recreational Industry.

Jye grew up in Gympie and completed his Year 12 Certificate at the Gympie State High. During those years he became a keen player of the game and a valuable member of Gympie Hockey.

Jye moved from Gympie to Hervey Bay to study at the Hervey Bay TAFE Campus. His studies thus far have seen him gain his Cert III in Sports Coaching, completing his practical works back with the Gympie Hockey Association. Through TAFE Qld, Jye has gone on to complete four related Certificates in the Sports and Recreation Industry.

Jye attained a Level 1 Umpire-Hockey competency and travelled to New Zealand as a HQ Umpire in 2012.   He also holds a Level 1 Umpire- Cricket, Jye completed his Level 1 Hockey Coaching Theory in 2014. At this time Jye is currently continuing his studies to obtain a Diploma of Fitness whilst also doing his Certificate 4 in Masage Therapy.  In 2014 Jye gained the ‘Student of the Year Award’- TAFE Qld EAST COAST Hervey Bay Campus.

Jye has been a playing member within the Maryborough Hockey competition with the Wallaroo Club.

Apart from the study base for his chosen career, Jye has also committed to doing a lot of Voluntary and Community work to build his experience and knowledge base within the Industry. As mentioned earlier, Jye worked within Gympie Hockey for a time. He has also worked in several local Gym’s and Fitness Centres, assisted at introductory programs for other sporting organisations such as AFL and Touch. He worked as Sports Masseuse at Major Events such as the HPV, Triathlon and the HQ Masters Womens here at Maryborough in 2014. Somewhere along the way he has also planned and managed his time such that he retains a casual position with Woolworths, to help pay his way.

Jye is enthusiastic, eager and keen to begin the Development Officer's role with the MDHA.  we trust that Jye will grow into the role quickly and become an asset to the organiSation as we continue to seek out new members to take up this great game of Hockey here in Maryborough. I trust you all will look forward to working alongside and with Jye over the coming months as he settles into his duties as Development Officer for MDHA, on the Fraser Coast.
