16 year old Sania Nehwal has completed an amazing cinderella story at the Bingo Bonanza Philippine Open.  After taking out #1 seed Xu Huaiwen, she has proven that she will be a force to be rekoned with in the world of badminton for years to come.  She toppled Julia Wong of Malaysia in straight sets to win her first major IBF Grand Prix title.

On the Mens singles side, Hafiz Hashim finally beat his brother in an official event.  This time, Hafiz overcame a close first set to win over his older sibling in straight sets.  However, it should be noted that Roslin has made a significant comeback and we hope he will continue his successful run!

On the doubles side, the Asuncions were finally vanquished by Thai aces Sudket Prapakamol/Saralee Thoungthangkam in two tight sets.  Thousands of screaming fans couldnt propel their local darlings to their first major title this time--but that doesnt take away from a great effort from the Asuncions...and an even better one by Sudket/Saralee!

In Mens doubles, Hong Kong pairing, Albertus Susanto Njoto/Yohan Hadikusuma Wiratama took out opponents Hendra Gunawan/Joko Riyadi of Indonesia in 3 tight sets.  Only a few points separated these pairs, but Njoto/Wiratama prevailed to win their first major title as well.

In Womens doubles, Jo Novita/Gresya Polii sailed to the title over compatriots Nur Sugianti Endang/Rian Mundiasti.  This is the best result ever for the young runners-up; however they have a way to go before being able to topple their senior compatriots!
