Philippine Open Coverage to be Extensive



Solar Sports today announced their participation in the Philippine Open Badminton Championships to be held in Manila from March 1 – 5, 2006.  Solar, the nation’s leading cable broadcasting company, has dedicated its broadcast support to the event which will mark the largest IBF event ever to be played in the country.  Solar’s coverage comes on the heels of the successful MVP Cup (Asia vs Europe) where it covered all matches live and sent its feed to international broadcasters such as Sky (UK), GDTV (China) and Astro (Malaysia). 
 
Similar international coverage is expected at the Philippine Open with players from key badminton markets slated to participate.  Solar’s broadcast schedule will include the following coverage:
  • Philippine Open Preview Show  - Broadcast on February 25th or 26th, this program will feature input from badminton experts on which players will be the “ones to watch” at the event.  Call-in interviews from international experts can be expected—so don’t miss this show on Solar Sports!
  • Daily Highlights – From March 1 – 3, Solar will broadcast 30 minutes of the best matches from each day.   Solar will cover upsets, controversies or successes of at the event.  The broadcasts will take place in the evening on each day.
  • LIVE Coverage – On March 4th and 5th, Solar will broadcast coverage of the Semi Finals and Finals matches LIVE.  These matches will take place from 2pm – 6pm in the afternoon and will feature the top players in the event. 
 
The Philippine Open will also launch its website for more detailed coverage of the event.  Found at www.philippineopenbadminton.com, the site will feature the following information:
-         Latest News on Philippine Open and other international badminton events
-         Player Images (downloadable)
-         Player Profiles and Player Draw/Match Schedule (once final field is confirmed)
-         Daily Match Updates
-         Sponsor Contests and Information

-         Media Accreditation
 
Participating nations will also be able to register their players through the website which is a new innovation for the sport of badminton.  So for fans and media alike, the Philippine Open website can be used as a resource for information on badminton and more specifically the Philippine Open event!
