Water restriction information..........how this is being managed

WATER CONSERVATION AT THE MDHA

MDHA is committed to being a leader in water conservation and we will work with Wide Bay Water authorities to maintain the integrity of Water Restrictions as any responsible rate payer does. This however does not require us to stop doing what we are here to do and will make every effort to provide our members with the opportunity to play their games.

Some unpopular choices may come up during the processes as it will take a mixture of measures to manage the business through the drought, however I ask you all to be patient and understand we are looking at operation over a full season of hockey and doing everything possible to make it possible.

We need also to manage the condition of our grass fields, particularly in light of the hosting of Queensland Womens Masters on first weekend in May.

The authority has only restricted our access to their supplies of fresh water.

We are using on site rain collection storage currently. Meanwhile we have been and will continue to pursue options for supply, which are not from the reticulated system short term solution is in place which should bide us over to a permanent outcome.

Though it may seem odd that the watering of turf is okay, we are indeed conserving resources.

The following may help explain.

The refurbished turf is new generation technology designed to provide significant savings in water use of about 40%, it is our intent to go for 50% cut on previous usage whilst the drought holds.

A team of water monitors will be responsible for water operation during this period.

For the present there is no water available for Monday and Tuesday which removes access to the turf for training sessions for the time being. We will advise if this changes.

Grass fields may be closed for periods until we get past the Masters Championships after which a review will be done.

Howard will continue to provide minimal water from our on site bore pump (as long as it is available) to the grass fields in an effort to keep some grass cover.

Please do not use the goal boxes and circles for your training, unless the box has been moved to side line.

If you can see you training area is worn please move to new spot.

I WOULD THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR UNDERSTANDING AND CO OPERATION DURING THESE TIMES.

REMEMBER THE FARMERS ARE DOING IT TOUGHER THAN US.
