Solar Sports, RPN-9 to air RP Open


To give the 2007 Bingo Bonanza Philippine Open
Badminton Championships a mainstream appeal, Solar
Sports and RPN-9 will telecast the semifinal round on
July 21 and the finals on July 22.


The four-hour live telecast will start at 2 p.m.
Solar Sports and RPN-9 will also broadcast an evening
highlight program from July 18-20 for the preliminary
rounds.


Action in the semifinals and finals will also be
beamed live to Indonesia (Astro); Malaysia (Astro);
China (Guangdong TV, Chongqing TV and Beijing TV) and
Singapore (Starhub).


Around 29 countries have so far registered for the RP
Open, sponsored by Bingo Bonanza Corp. for the second
straight year and ranked as a Grand Prix Gold
tournament sanctioned by the International Badminton
Federation and organized by IMG (International
Management Group).


This year’s field doubled last year’s roster but the
current total number of players in the fold – 354 –
has tripled the cast in last year’s inaugurals,
underscoring the tremendous interest generated by the
event not only in the region but also throughout the
world following the participation of England,

Czech
Republic, Germany, Poland Russia, Slovenia,
Switzerland, Wales, Austia, France, Portugal and the
Unites States.
