2017 Zone 10 Presentation Night

This story is a little late but the event continues to break ground with over 250 members & guest attending. President Brett Hughes, thanked all the clubs that continue to support this event. The feedback has been outstanding again for 2017.

Brett also thanked Anthony Cottee & his team from Bowls NSW for attending the evening and presenting some awards.

It was also great to see our friends from Zone 12, 15, 9 & 13 attending as we continue to build strong relationships with our Zones. Other special guest to attend was Chairman of State Match Committee Michael Harvey, life member Denis Harmer.

The Pinnacle presentation on the night was for Dennis Harmer, Dennis was our 2nd inductee into the Zone 10 Hall of Fame and he was presented with his plaque by inaugural ” Hall of Fame” inductee Cameron Curtis.

2017 State Inter Zone Results

The 2017 State Inter Zone Championships have just finished at Port Macquarie and below commentary from Zone President Brett Hughes, sums up our campaign.

Firstly, a big thank you to all involved in the 2017 Inter-Zone. Well again this year a great performance winning 2 out of 3 games & beating the favourites Zone 12 but we fell just short by losing to Zone 14.

Zone 12 went on to win the championship so we came very close this time around so well done to all the boys who represented Zone 10 throughout 2017.

Thanks too to Trevor Imer, Bill Sutcliffe and Col Lees for a great year it was a pleasure to work with you guys and your efforts were very much appreciated and thanks too to Mark Barton for the great job you do as side manager.

Thank you also to June Eckett for all the work you put in with the uniforms and just making sure the guys were looked after.

We are lucky to have you associated with our boys June and we hope you stay on for a long time.

I have attached our results for your records but once again thank you.

Save the date for the Zone 10 Annual Presentation Night

Please join President, Brett Hughes and the Zone 10 Executive at our upcoming Zone Presentation Night and celebrate the success of our clubs, players and volunteers who have shined in 2017.

See our zone people rewarded for their efforts, club of the year, senior & junior bowler of the year, team of the year (senior & open), zone champions and club volunteer of the year.

This year’s event host is once more, Wenty Leagues, Starlight Room from 6.30pm and we have a great night planned, with a 3-course meal and drinks package.

MC, Ian Schuback will keep you entertained and move the awards along whilst comedian and ventriloquist Darren Carr will have you rolling in fits of laughter in between award sessions.

Tickets are just $50 per head and we can make up tables to suit so all clubs are now invited to please confirm your attendance and table requirements to Secretary Norm Muir.

Robert Supala nominated for Ryde Sports Foundation

Star of the Year 2017-2018 Award.

It is with immense pleasure we advise that Robert Supala, a young bowler at North Ryde RSL Men’s Bowls has been nominated for the sports person award at the TWT Club Six / Ryde Sports Foundation. The presentation of the award will be held at the North Ryde RSL Community Club on 6^th October 2017

Robert is 16 years of age, resides at North Ryde and is in Year 12 at Epping Boys High School. He commenced playing lawn bowls under the Epping Boys High School Program at North RSL and Community Club in 2012 where he has continued playing till the present day. Robert is also a member of the North Ryde RSL Youth Club. He has represented the Mens Bowling Club with distinction in grades 4, 5 and 6 over the past four years. He also represented The Royal New South Wales Bowling Association- Zone 10 in their events.

In 2016 Robert was Skip in the Epping Boys High School team that competed in the Combined High School side that won the Metropolitan Zone and was runners-up in the State Finals.

Following his initial period with North Ryde RSL Mens Bowls, he joined the Zone Academy in 2012, since when he has been a valued, committed and popular member of the Group.

Robert is involved in all activities viz, regular games against Metropolitan Zones,12,13, Nepean, Zone 16 (Illawarra) and Zone 2 (Newcastle) with Zone 10 being victorious on many occasions.

Robert was a member of the Zone 10 side which took out the Annual Metropolitan Shield in 2013 against Zones 12,13 &16.

Robert is a softly spoken young man, polite and well mannered. He is competitive and fair sportsman, an excellent role model for his peers.

Robert has dedicated himself zealously to the sport of lawn bowls at North Ryde RSL and has shown commitment by extending his coaching from North Ryde RSL Lawn Bowls to The Royal NSW Bowling Association - Zone 10.

He is keen to develop his skills further and to add to already fine achievements.

Robert is an excellent sportsman and role model who conduct himself with fairness and integrity on and off the bowling green. All members of North Ryde RSL Men’s Bowls can be very proud of his achievements as they strongly support him in all his endeavours.

Barry Gibson, President of North Ryde RSL said….” Robert is a credit to his parents, Epping Boys High School and to our Lawn Bowling Club. Robert is an excellent ambassador not only for our Club but for the whole sport of Lawn Bowls”.

On behalf of the Zone 10 Executive, Congratulations Robert on your nomination. This is a worthy result of the hard work and dedication you have shown to your sport. And we also say a big thank you to Barry Gibson and all the members at North Ryde RSL Men’s Bowls and to Bill Sutcliffe and Ted Lean for their dedication with development of the Junior Academy program.
