2016 Sports Awards winners

 

 Annual 'Life Membership' of the Society went to Sgt. David Jamieson.  

David was a founding member of the Victoria Police Rugby Club in 1999, and became a Vice President of the Society in the same year. He assisted in the development of the initial Victoria Police Amateur Sports & Welfare Society's website, and has hosted both rugby league and national carnivals in Melbourne.

Athlete Scholarship - Awarded to Detective Senior Constable Kelly Bayliss who will represent Australia and Victoria Police at the 2016 International Natural Olympia and Women's Figure and Body Sculting event.

Administrator of the Year - Awarded to Senior Constable Kieran Rodgers, Secretary of the Victoria Police Cricket Club who has overseen initiatives to increase membership, networking and assisted in the development of the 'Luke Batty Memorial Shield'.

Most Outstanding Individual Police Sporting or Welfare Achievement of the Year - Awarded to the Four Wheel Drive Clubs 'Blue Green Crew' project created by Marcus Nash which provided 200 Defence, Police & Emergency Services members a chance to get away from the stresses of serious work life.

Most Improved Police Team of the Year - Awarded to the Victoria Police Football Club for demonstrating a fantastic team culture, community engagement, charity support and a willingness to improve the club.

Most Outstanding Police Recreation, Social, or Other Achievement of the Year (new award) - Awarded to the Victoria Police Soccer Club's annual 'Tony Clarke Memoral Match' which is played against ex-Socceroos players. 

Most Outstanding Police Club of the Year - Awarded to the Victoria Police Cycling Club which raised $40,000 in its second Police Legacy ride from Corryong, Victoria to the National Police Memorial in Canberra.

Victoria Police Sporting 'Hall of Fame' - Awarded to Senior Sergeant Russell Fletcher and presented by the Minister for Police Lisa Neville. Russell represented Victoria for decades breaking state and national swimming records. He is also the only person to have twice won the Society's prestigious 'Most Outstanding Individual Sporting Achievement' award.
