Timing system worked! A creek crossing! Rain! Hail! Mud! Arguably Australia's steepest run up! Once again Adelaide's weather turned it on. Depite having about 70 people DNS including about 10 who turned up then decided staying clean was a good idea, 160 riders *did* brave the conditions, including Australian Elite Champion Lisa Jacobs who swung by to play in the mud.
Huge kudos to those who turned up at 7:30am to help set up in bitterly cold conditions, people who hung around muddy and wet (even standing in the hail) to cheer others on, and the big crew who helped pack down afterwards! Without help from people like that we could not run events, and would not have the same great atmosphere.
To help mitigate the damage that the race caused to the park there is a working bee this Saturday 30th July 9am at the start/finish area. Please come along, bring a metal rake or hoe to cross-rake and smooth out the ruts in the grass and mulch. There's a Facebook event for more details here but if you're not on FB it doesn't matter just turn up anyway!. Even if you can't come to the working bee you can help our courses recover: DON'T go back and practice the same lines undo-ing other volunteers' work and jeopardising our use of the park.
Full results including lap times, links to photo albums, tweets and insta (remember #pacccx !) are up at crossresults.com. If you have got a photo album to share, you can add it to the list yourself. For the race animations - see below!
