THE PACC CX Setup crew were greeted to ice on windscreens, ice all over the parklands... but then the sun came out and it was a perfectly still winter's day. Thanks to all the helpers who braved the frost, a great crew helped set up the course with it completed by 9am ready for a bumper day of Focus Bikes Crossfire Cup cyclo-cross racing.
As usual we started proceedings with the Little Xers, a dozen champions rode a reasonably complicated course with a special start loop, through the loose stuff under the trees (it appeared some kids had a mulch tasting) and returning through the pits to the finish line backwards. You don't get that kind of course marshalling organisation even in the Elite Womens NCXS races!
Based on some feedback received at Crossfire Round 2 we again played with the course format, and sent B-Grade CX men and Open Bike Men off in Event 2. A-CX Women and B-Combine Women 'swarmed' (another great turnout of women!) the start line for Event 3, with the C-Combine Men a further 30sec back. A-Men were Event 4.
Special Kudos to the sign on crew and timers who assited in getting the results out so fast. Stay turned for an update of the Crossfire Series points in a few days. The next and final race in the Focus Crossfire Cup for Winter 2015 is Sunday 16 August. ENTRIES OPEN FOR NOT THE CIRCUS 16 August HERE.
