54 of Tasmania's best headed for Sydney in March

Athletics Tasmania has announced a team of 54 athletes to represent the State at the 2015 Australian Age Track and Field Championships at Sydney's Olympic Park in March.
The selection of the team follows a highly successful Tasmanian domestic season for its youth and junior athletes culminating in the State Age Championships at the Domain Athletic Centre in Hobart last weekend.
Athletics Tasmania President Mike Gunson said that these were a particularly important championship for the State's talent pathway athletes.
"We have had a core group of high level performers in these age categories for several years but many have transitioned to senior ranks so now we are looking to the next group to take advantage of the opportunities presented by one of the great junior athletics competitions in the world," Gunson said.
"Few countries are able to deliver a youth and junior championships in such numbers and of such quality every year but we are fortunate that this is exactly what our athletes have on their doorstep.
"It is a chance to step up, challenge themselves and aim for a quality personal best performance and we have some exciting young talent who we believe can do just that."
The Championships are held over five days and feature a full complement of track and field events, including relays across age groups from under 14 to under 20.
