State Individual Championships Results

Seven State records were broken on the first day of the 2014 Little Athletics Tasmania Championships at St. Leonards Athletics track on Saturday 8th March.

South Launceston athlete Patrick Chilvers and Hobart's Nathaniel Sulzberger were the multiple record breakers, setting two new marks each.

Chilvers set rrecords in the under 15 boys triple jump of 12.90 metres and in the 400m with his time of 52.50.

Nathaniel achieved the feat in the same events in the Under 8 boys age groups with his triple jump of 8.17m and in the 400m with a winning time of 1.13.20. Nathanial's time in the triple jump broke a 1982 record held by Terry Plumbridge.  Terry is now a parent at Little Athletics and was on hand to present the Gold Medal to Nathaniel. 

Other records went to Clarence's Tom Murrell in the Under 9 Boys Turbo jav with a throw of 28.07 metres and a new record in the Under 9 Boys 800m with a time of 2.48.5, South Launceston's Jack Barrett set a record in the under 15 boys shot put with a put of 13.91metres; and Alicia McConaghy of Kingborough set a new record in the Under 9 girls 800m with a time of 2.52.6.

Nathaniel Sulzberger continued his winning form on Day 2, breaking records in the Under 8 Turbo Jav, and the high jump with a jump of 1.18m.

Longford's Abbie Butler set a new mark int he under 10 girls 1500m, with a time of 5.42.5, Lauanceston's Isabella Davie broke the Under 8 girls turbo jav record throwing 13.57m, Kysha Hill from South Launceston broke the Under 15 girls Hurdle Record with a time of 29.20, Flethcer Pinner set a new record in the Under 15 boys High Jump with a jump of 1.85m, Devonport's Chelsea Scolyer had a great championships, breaking the Under 8 Girls 70m record with a time of 10.90, Makayla Bingley of South Launceston threw 10.26m to break the Under 11 Girls Shot Put record, Olivia Reid of Kingborough broke the Under 15 girls long jump record with a jump of 5.05m, and Lachlan Robertson from Launceston broke the Under 15 Boys javelin record throwing a very impressive 45.95m.
