We had Sharks. We had 'WifeBeaters'. We had reigning Australian CX Champion Allan Iacuone. The line up was massive, the atmosphere was fantastic (with real Australian Bull Dust for atmospheric effect) and the course was world class. In the end it was local lad 'The Real' Shaun Lewis riding for Focus Bikes and Wiggle-Honda Pro rider Peta Mullins who took out the mens and womens races at FOCUS OZZYCROSS on Australia Day.
We'd write up a proper report if we hadn't spent the rest of the weekend in the PACC Corporate Tent with ales while yelling at TDU Riders, followed by a day at the Edwardstown Velodrome (still under the same tent, similar esky). So after a long week or road racing, CX racing and track racing we're pretty much cooked!
Are there any budding journos who will write us up a full report? Now's your chance, you might get your article published in the upcoming Australian CX Mag! (yes, we're serious here)
$ Prizes go to: Top 10 A-Grade Men and Women. Top 6 B-Grade. Top 3 C-Grade and Top 3 Open. We need your bank details to deposit the money, email us! Over $3700 to get rid of in Australia's richest CX race! The TREASURER'S TREASURE Awards to go: Daniel Searson (Worst number pinning - pins don't stay in wife beater singlets?!), Chris Mack (Best Costume - THE SHARK), and there was a tie in the vote for Best Dressed Family (Cricks and Didyks). Official/MVP Award went to Andrew Crowe who set-up, timed, packed up all with a smile and he doesn't even race CX. The big random prize being a stirling silver disk rotor pendant thanks to Bevan Jones' Outofthesaddle.com.au was drawn by chance to the youngest rider in the competitive field- Gabe Wilson!
