Spirit of Moonee Valley Awards for 2010

The Spirit of Moonee Valley Community Awards gives us the opportunity to honour local community members who have gone beyond what is expected of them to contribute to the wellbeing of the Municipality of Moonee Valley.

The awards recognise volunteers within the community, including individuals, groups and businesses and celebrates their commitment to improving the quality and sustainability of the Moonee Valley lifestyle. The nominations are divided into nine categories (one being 'Contribution to Sport') and are judged by an independent panel of five people.

In recognition of their 'Contribution to Sport' Gwen & Carol Timmins from Essendon Little Athletics Centre were awarded a trophy and the opportunity to donate $250 to their preferred community group or charitable organisation.

Gwen & Carol have both been heavily involved in the Essendon Little Athletics Centre for the past 25 years. They have given countless hours of their personal time to undertake every position within the committee and always put their hands up if extra help is needed. They have represented Essendon at both Region & State level of Little Athletics and have always helped others if they wish to compete at that level. Gwen has also involved herself with various local schools and is always available to assist on their sports days.
