<6-7-06> - Nominees for Athletics Tasmania's Athlete of the Year Awards for 2005-06

Athletics Tasmania today announced the nominees for its Athlete of the Year Awards
that will be announced and presented at a luncheon at the Domain Athletic Centre in
Hobart on Sunday 16 July.

The prestigious Awards, which are made annually recognise the achievements of
Tasmania’s best athletes during each competition season, from 1 April to 31 March.

Nominations are made from within the sport, with the final selections being made by
an independent panel, which for 2005-06 comprised Athletics Australia High
Performance Administrator, David Tarbotton and athletics media experts, John Briggs
and Julian O’Brien.

The nominees in each of the eight categories are:
