<04.08.06> - Tasmanian Cross Country Team Announced

Athletics Tasmania today announced the selection of the team to represent the State in the Telstra Australian Cross Country Championships to be held at the Pontville Sports Complex and Equestrian Centre at Brighton in Tasmania on Saturday, 26 August.

The team is headed by 2006 World Cross Country Championships teams bronze medallist Donna MacFarlane (Sandy Bay). Also selected is wife and husband combination - current Australian marathon champion, Jenny Gillard and four times national representative, Kim Gillard, both from North Launceston.

The team was selected following the Tasmanian Championships held at Rokeby last month.

WOMEN
Open: Emma Butler (North West), Jenny Gillard (North Launceston), Olivia Gillie (Sandy Bay), Donna MacFarlane (SB), Sarah Pinto (SB), Lyn Saint John (NW), Reserves: Carolyn Davis (TMA), Andrea Marquardt (SB)
Under 20: Jessica Appleby (SB), Kim Dutkowski (SB), Annaliese Hunt (SB), Jessica Ireland (SB), Emily Wallace (NL)

MEN
Open: Sam Fergusson (Northern Suburbs), Kim Gillard (NL), Mark Jackson (Riverside), Grant Page (NS), Jarrod Shaw (SB), Richard Welsh (NW) Reserves: Jason Allie (Eastern Suburbs), Christian Newbold (NS)
