STATE PRIMARY CROSS COUNTRY TEAM ANNOUNCED

Athletics Tasmania today announced the selection of the Tasmanian Primary
Schools Team, which will compete in the primary exchange component of the
School Sport Australia and Telstra Australian Cross Cross Country
Championships to be held at the Pontville Sports Complex and Equestrian Park
at Brighton in Tasmania on August 25-27.

The team which comprises five boys and five girls in each of the three
competition age groups – 10 years, 11 years and 12 years, will compete in an
individual and teams competition on Saturday 26 August and a cross country
relay competition the following day. Winnaleah has the honour of providing
the most athletes for the team – with three.

The Primary Exchange also includes an excursion the day before competition
starts as well as opening and closing ceremonies. The young Tasmanians will
be competing alongside athletes from all mainland states and the ACT.
The team was selected following performances in the Tasmanian
Championships which were held at Symmons Plains on 12 July.

11 years: Jacob Birtwhistle (Riverside); Matt Hanson (Hagley Farm); Brodie Stokell
(Hagley Farm); Alistair White (Kingston); Mitchell Woods (Scotch Oakburn)

12 years: Kyle Cooper (Lauderdale); Ryan Davenport (Winnaleah); Denver James
(Taroona); Marcus Lee (Sacred Heart, Launceston), Tim Reid (Sacred Heart, Hobart)

GIRLS
10 years: Rebecca Burns (Havenview), Julia Minnucci (St Cuthberts); Zoe Moss
