2009/2010 Europcar AT/TIS Development Squad Announced
Tasmania’s next athletics stars have been acknowledged, with the 2009/2010 Europcar Athletics Tasmania/Tasmanian Institute of Sport Development Squad being announced.
Now in its fourth year, the squad aims at identifying, recognising and helping to develop Tasmania’s most talented under 20 athletes, across all disciplines of track & field. Squad athletes are exposed to clinics from high profile coaches around the country, along with three training camps per year, held in St Helen’s, Coles Bay and Hobart. Other benefits include complimentary massage treatments, free apparel, travel subsidies and access to some sports science facilities.
Athletics Tasmania and the TIS are pleased to welcome Europcar as the naming rights sponsor for this years squad. Gavin Spinks of Europcar was pleased to extend its association with the squad for its second year, “athletics is the type of sport where you get rewarded for the work you put in and Europcar are excited about assisting these driven athletes to assist them in achieving their goals.”
TIS Track & Field Co-ordinator Peter Fortune is excited about the current crop of athletes in the squad. “This year we have selected 39 athletes into the development squad and we look forward to working with them and their coaches to maximise their potential as athletes. With plenty of clinics, camps and activities planned, these athletes will be well placed to perform at their best against the top athletes from around the country.
