Support Program for Local Athletes at National Combined Events Championships

Australian Combined Events – Saturday 31 January
The following invitation events will be available for registered athletes during the Saturday afternoon programme (1.30pm to 4.15pm) of the Australian Combined Events Championships. Entries will be taken on the day as normal for Interclub with entries closing 20 minutes before the advertised starting time for each event. There will be no entry fee. Events will be provided for men and for women:
12.00pm Hammer Throw All Ages – Men and Women
1.30pm Discus Throw All Ages – Men and Women
1.30pm 400m All Ages – Men and Women
2.00pm 1500m All Ages – Men
2.08pm 1500m All Ages –Women
2.45pm Long Jump All Ages – Men and Women
3.15pm 100m All Ages – Men and Women
In addition the following additional Tasmanian Relay Championships will also be staged. The normal entry rules and fees ($20 per open entry, $10 per under age entry) will apply. An entry form is available from Clubs.
4x200 metres – under 18, under 20, open
4x400 metres – under 16
Swedish Medley (100m, 200m, 300m, 400m) – under 14
4x800m – under 18, open

Support programme - Australian Combined Events – Sunday 1 February
The following handicapped “gift” events will be available for registered athletes during the Sunday programme (11.00am to 2.15pm) of the Australian Combined Events Championships. Entries will close one hour before the advertised starting time for each event. There will be an entry fee of $6.50 for each event. Events will be mixed for men and women:
To compete in the 200 metres, athletes must have run at least three 200 metres (or two 200 metres and one 100 metres) at branch or AT competitions (or interstate equivalents) since 1 October 2008. Exceptions may apply for athletes who do not meet these requirements but have run similar distances in the same number of competitions on the TAL Carnival circuit this season.
To compete in the 550 metres, athletes must have run at least two 400 metres (or one 400 metres and one 800 metres at branch or AT competitions (or interstate equivalents) since 1 October 2008. Exceptions may apply for athletes who do not meet these requirements but have run similar distances in the same number of competitions on the TAL Carnival circuit this season.
Age is determined as at 31 December 2009. The final timetable for these events will be advised shortly. There is likely to be an amendment to the draft timetable to enable the 550m events to be conducted before the heats of the 200 metres to enable athlete to do both events.
There will be prizemoney of $250 for first, $100 for second, $50 for third for each of these seven events. Where there are less than eight entries for any event, the event may be combined with another age group(s).
