Silver for Humphrey

Athletics Tasmania board member Aaron Humphrey made a return to race walking yesterday, to claim silver over the 5000m journey at Olympic Park in Melbourne.

His time was 27:36, for ther 12 1/2 laps of the Melbourne track.

Humphrey was a former national underage medallist at walking events, who's attention has recently been focussed on running events.

It concluded a good series of performances from UTAS athletes at the Australian University Games, with Sam Morey scoring 3 personal bests over the 800m/1500m distances, Kristen Legrand setting new lifetime bests for 5,000m and 10,000m and Stuart Morse taking bronze in the mens hammer.

Daniel Reeves and Ben Groom also performed admirably, with Groom running 51.22 for the 400m and Reeves also scoring a personal best over the 1 lap journey.
