08 Sep 2008

Embarking on her second European racing stint of 2008, TIS athlete Donna MacFarlane had her first hit out only three days after jumping of the plane.

In a 3000m steeplechase in Rieti, some 2 hours outside of Rome, MacFarlane performed in her pet event at the famous meeting, reknown for producing fast times and setting many world records.

Her first outing since Beijing, MacFarlane recorded 9:44.29, behind Ruth Bisibori of Kenya who took the victory in 9:21.30.

To round out the Tasmanian involvement, Athletics Tasmania President Brian Roe was also the Assistant Meeting Director.

MacFarlane will now head to Monaco where she will next compete in the World Athletics Final this weekend.
