More record numbers set for Symmons Plains

 

Yet another record number of entries have been received for a Tasmanian athletic event.  This time, it is for tomorrow’s Tasmanian Primary All Schools Cross Country at Symmons Plains raceway.

 

Following the sensational turnout for last weeks secondary carnival, over 1300 students from 115 primary schools throughout Tasmania have opted to tackle the cold and muddy conditions, that is cross country running. 

 

The program for tomorrow’s events will be;

 

Event 1

12 year old boys

3km

1 x 3km lap

11.00am

Event 2

12 year old girls

3km

1 x 3km lap

11.10am

Event 3

11 year old boys

3km

1 x 3km lap

11.25am

Event 4

11 year old girls

3km

1 x 3km lap

11.35am

Event 5

10 year old boys

2km

1 x 2km lap

11.55am

Event 6

10 year old girls

2km

1 x 2km lap

12.05pm

Event 7

9 year old boys

2km

1 x 2km lap

12.20pm

Event 8

9 year old girls

2km

1 x 2km lap

12.30pm

 

With some entries still to be processed, it is possible that the Primary and Secondary events will reach 2500, up on the 2300 entered last year.

While participation is the aim, the day also doubles as the selection trial for students to qualify for the Tasmanian state team to compete at the Australian All Schools Cross Country Championships to be contested in Geelong on August 23.
