Hanny Allston wins Rotorua Marathon

06 May 2008

TIS Athlete Hanny Allston won the 44th Rotorua Marathon on Saturday, the event doubling as the New Zealand championships.

Allston has never lost a marathon.  After breaking the course record for the Cadbury Marathon at her first journey over the distance in 2007, she won the Melbourne Marathon and has now added the Rotorua Marathon to her resume.

Based in Auckland for the year, where she is studying, Allston only decided to enter the marathon 2 days prior to the race, such is her relaxed approach to the sport.

The course is similar to Cadbury, while predominately flat, it does rise 250m over the course.  Her winning time of 2.43.41 was her second fastest in her 3 race career and placed her 15th overall and nearly 4min ahead of the second place female.

Congratulations Hanny!
