38 Headed to Brisbane

38 Tasmanian students aged between 10 and 12 have already headed to Brisbane for the School Sport Australia Track and Field Exchange.
This competition and festivities are held over 5 days with three days of friendly competition and an excursion planned for Dreamworld on the Gold Coast.
Last year the 11 years girls managed to bring home a Bronze medal in the Medley relay, all girls from that medal winning team will return this year to try and better that performance in the 12 year olds event.
The team of 38 Tasmanian students is the biggest for many years and puts us in good stead heading in to 2014 where Tasmania will host this event on the relaid track at the refurbished Penguin Athletic Centre.
Event Timeline:
Friday 22nd:
Teams arrive and Opening Ceremony
Saturday 23rd:
Day 1 of competition including 200m heats and finals and 800m heats
Sunday 24th:
Day 2 of competition including 100m heats and finals and 800m finals
Monday 25th:
Excursion Day – Dreamworld
Tuesday 26th:
Relay Day:
Comprising of two field event relays (Long Jump and Shot Put), and two track relays the mixed 4x200m and the mixed 8x100m.
