Farewell for Daniel Coleman

On Saturday 26th November, Tasmanian Walkers Club and OVA Athletics Club hosted a farewell barbecue for Daniel Coleman who leaves the State in mid December to base himself in Canberra.

A small but hearty group of well-wishers/friends gathered at the Domain following Interclub.  Brendan Hanigan spoke on behalf of OVA - Sam Morey on behalf of the athletes and David Moore spoke on behalf of the Tasmanian Walkers Club.  All had great things to say about Daniel and his achievements with Sam adding a few lighter moments.

Daniel has always been prepared to give his time in the pursuit of improving other athletes especially our junior walkers.  To have a model athlete at such a young age is a credit not only to Daniel but also to the values instilled by his parents Adrian and Rosemary.

For Daniel this opportunity will see him blossom as a walker finally having the opportunity to train with other talented walkers rather than grind kilometre after kilometre by himself at Kempton or on Mount Wellington.  In addition, he will compete against other junior and senior walkers who will extend Daniel and bring out the best in him.

We know that Daniel will achieve great results but we also know he will be humble - proud of the support and love given to him by his parents Adrian and Rosemary and brother Patrick.

On behalf of all past and present walkers we wish you well Daniel and "See you later" and we look forward to seeing you amongst again.
