Tasmanians off to National Events at Nations Capital

Athletics Tasmania will be taking a a strong contingent of the states fittest to this weekends Australian Cross Country Championships and Australian race Walking Championships in Canberra.
The championships will be held on the purpose built course at Stromlo Forrest, designed by World Marathon Champion Rob de Castella, after the major fires that went through Canberra last decade, with the walks being held in Woden.
Events includes race from 2km for the 10 year olds, right through to 12km for the open men, on a day where over 1000 runners from around the nation will descend on Canberra for the event. Walks distances will vary from 2km to 20km.
Each athlete earned the right to represent their state at the recent IGA Tasmanian All Schools Cross Country at Symmons Plains and the IGA Tasmanian Cross Country Championships at Pontville.
Individual events are conducted on Saturday, with students also participating in relays and time trials on Monday 22nd.
