Athlete of the Year celebrations

May 21 will see Tasmania's elite Track & Field/Road/Cross Country athletes frock up for the annual Athletics Tasmania Athlete of the Year Awards dinner.

Awards athletes are in the running for are as follows,

U14, U16, U18, U20, Open, Jumps/Combined Events, Throws Sprints/Hurdles and Distance. All categories will be hotly contested in both the Male and Female categories, One that can boast to having the longest list of national medallists is the U18 female where all six girls have won national medals over the course of the 2010-11 athletics season.

The U14 category will be the focus with the inaugural winner to get their name etched at the top of the brand new trophies.

Across all of the age groups our athletes have gained national selection, become anational champion, became a national medallist, national finalist, gained selection in elite squads and represented Tasmania at one of the many opportunities across the 12 month period which makes up a full athletics season.

Athletes who are eligible come in many forms from our U14 female cross country runners to our Open men's throwers at the Athletics Tasmania Athlete of the Year dinner there is sure to be a vast mix of quality athletes.
