Lyons goes Large in Sydney

Devonport athlete Brian Lyon's has had the run of his life, finishing 5th in the Sydney Running Festival Half Marathon yesterday.

Lyon's clocked a very impressive 1hour 8minutes 19seconds for the half marathon, the quickest by a Tasmanian in several years.  More impressive, was that only 26 seconds in front of him was former world record holder at the distance, Steve Moneghetti.

It rounds out a solid few months for Lyons who also placed 5th at last months Perth City to Surf over 12km.

In local running news over the weekend, Athletics South winter competition came to a close, following the Tolosa Park relays.  Northern Suburbs took out the overall men and women premierships.
