The Tasmanian cross country road show moves to northern Hobart this week, with three major cross country events being held at the Pontville Equestrian and Sporting Complex.
It all begins tomorrow with the running of the Running Edge Southern Inter High Cross Country. The annual event is likely to attract 500 students from grade 7-10 high schools all over southern Tasmania.
Students will run on the course that was used to host the 2006 Australian Cross Country Championships and it will feature more than enough equestrian barriers and obstacles to keep runners on their toes. Distances will vary from 3km - 6km and competition gets underway from 10am. The full timetable is;
Event 1 Grade 7 Girls 3km-1 x 3km lap 10.00am
Event 2 Grade 7 Boys 3km-1 x 3km lap 10.15am
Event 3 Grade 8 Girls 3km-1 x 3km lap 10.30am
Event 4 Grade 8 Boys 3km-1 x 3km lap 10.45am
Event 5 Grade 9 Girls 4km-2 x 2km laps 11.05am
Event 6 Grade 9 Boys 4km-2 x 2km laps 11.25am
Event 7 Grade 10 Girls 4km-2 x 2km laps 11.45am
Event 8 Grade 10 Boys 6km-2 x 3km laps 12.05pm
Competition then continues on Saturday from 12 noon - 2:30pm, with the IGA Tasmanian Cross Country Championships, then again on Monday August 2, with the Southern Independent Schools SSATIS cross country from 10am.
