World Athletics Day

Sunday May the 16th will bring a worldwide event to the Penguin Athletics Track. World Athletics Day is being held on 161 different locations right across the globe this year and Tasmania is holding its one and only on the North West Coast making Penguin apart of one of the largest days of Track & Field ever.

Kicking off at 10am with the individual 100m heats the program consists of both individual event's and a team's events. The team's need to have at least four members with four people required to compete in each event.

Team's events are a mixture of throws jumps and track relays providing something for everybody.

The individual events include the Moorilla 100m search for Tassie's Fastest Student, both male and female divisions will have the opportunity to take on the entire state. If successful athletes will be invited to compete at a host of events until finally determining who is Tassie's Fastest Student.

World Athletics Day is a free event for anybody and everybody 10 years and older no matter whether you are a past or present athlete or whether you have never competed before this is your event.

World Athletics Day is the best opportunity to test out track & field or to re-join and see if you still have what it takes.
