First Cross Country title of the year

23 Apr 2010

Saturday the 24th sees the running of the Boot Camp Tasmania 4km short course Cross Country Championships which is the first chance for our athletes to go head to head in the first of many Tasmanian Championships over the colder months.

Starting and finishing at the Domain Athletics Centre the race which follows the soldiers walk pathway from the Athletics Centre down towards the Aquatic Centre and returns back up the hill is one of the tougher of our cross country courses and is a fitting location on the eve of ANZAC day.

Last year's winners Grant Page and Mel Daniels will once again look to come away winners but will face stiff opposition with many of the best runners from the south tackling the course. Both athletes have started strongly with more intense events still to come they will both be looking at improvements throughout the early part of the season

Also looking to impress will be two young inform Northern Suburbs athletes Natasha Fitzpatrick and Jacob Malakoff who have both showed there potential in the early part of the cross country season and are in the hunt to represent their state later this year.

The race is in conjunction with round three of the Athletics South Cross Country season starting at 10am everybody is welcome to come and join in for a run or walk and enjoy the company of people of similar fitness level and ability.
