Tassie Team goes from Hobart to Homebush

25 Feb 2010

Athletics Tasmania is pleased to announce a team of 60 athletes, for the inaugural 2010 Australian Junior Championships.

This new format of national championships will be a key addition to the domestic athletics calendar, with over 1000 students from all states and territories heading to Sydney from March 11-14.

Tasmania will field a confident team, following the recent UTAS Australian All Schools & Youth Championships in Hobart, which took home 12 gold, seven silver and two bronze.

The team will be headlined by triple gold medalist from Hobart Kaitlin Morgan, who will aim to better her high jump personal best of 1.80m at Homebush, which will put her in good stead to continue her run of national crowns.

Hammer throwing is where Tasmania is most likely to win the most medals, with national medalists from Hobart Huw Peacock, Danielle McConnell, Mikayla Genge and Rebecca Direen all aiming to replicate their feats from December.
